SFC disturbed by media portrayal of Brig Bainababo
Brig Charity Bainababo shares a light moment with SFC army school children recently.

The Special Forces Command has blasted the recent portrayal of its deputy commander, Brigadier Charity Bainababo by some sections of the media.

A recent report by the media claimed that Brig Bainababo had been  sent for a military course at the National Defence College (NDC) in Jinja to help sharpen her people management skills.

In a statement on Monday evening, SFC described  the allegations in the article as being baseless and unfounded.

“Having carefully analysed the article, it's noted that, the story lacks the basic tenets of news writing in its entirety, it was only meant to dent the image of the officer since there is no iota of truth in what has been written,” Maj Jimmy Omara, the SFC spokesperson said .

He said whereas Gen Bainababo had been sent to the National Defence College for further studies, “this was a normal routine in the UPDF,” adding that the media article was written in bad faith with several innuendos and basing on unfounded allegations .

“We condemn in the strongest terms this kind of writing and we call on the media body to investigate the motive behind the said article.”

Brig Bainababo who is also a UPDF representative in Parliament was in 2022 appointed deputy commander SFC by President Museveni, who is also the commander in chief.

She had earlier been promoted from the rank of Colonel to Brigadier before her appointment as SFC deputy commander.
