Police have arrested 69 recruits for presenting forged identification documents during the ongoing recruitment exercise.
According to police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, following the recruitment of 3129 youths, a verification team conducted an assessment and found out that 69 of these had used forged academic documents.
“In response to these findings, we have initiated an investigation concerning the use of forged documents and related forgery offenses. The recruits implicated in this matter were detained in police custody in Masindi but currently placed on police bond,” Rusoke said.
He said that all individuals involved in forgery will be prosecuted upon detection.
“This serves as a stern warning to all prospective candidates wishing to join the Uganda Police Force that there is no tolerance for dishonesty or deceit in our recruitment process.”
The development comes on the backdrop of a just concluded recruitment exercise for the UPDF where a number of recruits presented forged documents.
Such incidents show how far Ugandans can go in terms of looking for jobs.
