Property worth Millions lost in Iganga night fire
Traders in Iganga municipality are in tears after a devastating fire burnt their properties worth millions of shillings.
According to Eria Mukisa a reporter to a local radio station told our reporter that fire was first detected earlier from a whole shop spread to the pharmacy, boutique and other two shops.
Sultan mukeshi whose pharmacy and store were razed by the flames revealed that he lost drugs worth 500 millions shillings and some cash.
"I was woken up by a phone call from one of my employee informing me that the pharmacy and store had been Caught by fire. I came and found when they had all been engulfed in flames. Said Mukesh
Godfrey mukembo another trader operating a boutique said some of his merchandise worth shs 8million shillings got burnt to ashes in the fire.
Mukembo however, faulted police for the failure to provide an emergency fire fighting truck to out out the fire on time.
Partick Byaruhanga the district police commander Iganga said that police were alerted with the help of jinja police fire Brigade and managed to put fire out before spreading to other nearby buildings.
He said that fire out could have been a result of an electricity short circuit but police are still investigating on it.
