Japanese Ambassador Bids Farewell, Underscores Strong Uganda-Japan Ties

H.E. Fukuzawa Hidemoto, Japan's outgoing ambassador to Uganda, concluded his three-year term with a courtesy call to Minister Oryem Henry Okello, Uganda's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Hidemoto expressed gratitude for his warm reception and used the opportunity to reflect on the achievements and milestones in Japan-Uganda relations during his tenure.

He highlighted his contribution to key projects like the Source of the Nile Bridge, the Jinja Bridge, and the Kampala Flyover Construction and Road Upgrading Project, emphasizing Japan's continued commitment to supporting Uganda's development. His confidence in his successor further emphasized the strength of the bilateral relationship.

Ambassador Hidemoto also stressed the importance of people-to-people exchanges and cultural cooperation for deeper understanding and friendship. He expressed joy at serving in Uganda and called it a privilege.

Minister Okello reciprocated by expressing appreciation for Japan's constant support in various sectors. He pointed to the importance of trade and investment growth between the two countries and welcomed Ambassador Hidemoto's successor.
