Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba who is the  Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, welcomed  Kate Airey, the outgoing British High Commissioner to Uganda, for a farewell visit.

The occasion also saw the presence of the newly appointed UK Defence Attaché to Uganda.

Kainerugaba lauded Ms. Airey's efforts in fortifying the ties between Uganda and the United Kingdom, appreciating her invaluable contributions during her tenure.

He extended his best wishes for her future endeavors.

The meeting underscored the enduring relationship between the two nations, previously highlighted in their April meeting when Gen Kainerugaba was congratulated by Ms. Airey on his appointment as CDF.

At that time, he also received a letter of congratulations from Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, the British Chief of Defence Staff.

Kainerugaba, an alumnus of the UK's Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, reiterated his commitment to fostering robust relations between the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) and the British Armed Forces, reflecting on the shared history and future collaboration.

Ms. Airey's departure marks the end of a significant chapter in Uganda-UK diplomatic relations, with her legacy of strengthened bilateral cooperation set to continue through the newly appointed defence attaché and ongoing mutual commitments.
