Nine students of Makerere University who were suspended in November 2019 by the Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe allegedly for leading the Fees-Must-Fall strike are set to appear before the university’s Students Disciplinary Committee. But the students have continued to protest the actions of the university.

Some of the students like David Musiri, a third year student of Bachelor of Commerce, and Siperia Mollie Saasiraabo, a third year student of Industrial Psychology, are still bedridden as a result of injuries sustained from the police and military brutality during the strike.
The other students are Rogers Mbajjo Ssebiraaro, (Bachelor of Quantitative Economics), Derrick Ojambo Wabwire (Bachelor of Records and Archives Management), Ivan Kyeyune (Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences), Seiz Mutatiina (Bachelor of Commerce), Job Dhabona (Bachelor of Community Psychology), Simon Ssenoga (Bachelor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology) and Frank Bwambale (Bachelor of Journalism Communication).

Ahead of their appearance before the disciplinary committee, the students lawyer Marvin Saasi said they consider the entire process they will face, “A travesty of justice.”
Saasi says that the students are concerned about, “The high handed suppression of our academic freedoms to assemble, speak, and demonstrate against issues that affect us as students.”
They say, “The criminalization of students lawful protests, as well as the campaign of intimidation, prosecution and blackmail that is being executed against us by the university administration must also stop!”
The students maintain that they are, “Unfazed, and maintain our stand that the prohibitive #MakFeesMustFall!”
