He also noted a big number of power banks still missing, saying a total of 11,733 are yet to be retrieved.
"119,418 power banks were sent into the field and 107,685 (90.2%) have been retrieved so far. 11,733 are yet to be retrieved," Mukiza said.
The UBOS chief said some of these gadgets were genuinely lost while others stolen by the enumerators.
He further said that the bureau has given an alternative to the enumerators who lost the gadgets to pay Shs80,000 for each power bank and Shs750,000 for each tablet lost.
"Some of them were genuinely lost, but there are others which were stolen by the people who had them. So, we have given them an alternative, if you can't find them, if it is a power bank, pay Shs80,000 to a Uganda Revenue Authority account and we are treating it as a disposal or as a public asset. If it is a tablet, we have used the market value of the ordinary tablet of Shs750,000," Mukiza said.
Mukiza was addressing the media about the post census 2024 activities, at the Statistics House in Kampala.
UBOS conducted the census in May, with preliminary results indicating a total population of 45.9 million people.
The exercise which cost Shs328.7 billion was 99% funded by government while other partners such as UNHCR, UNDP and UNFPA contributed Shs18.5 billion (1%).
