Legislators from trade committee of Presidential affairs have protested a presentation from the minister of science and technology Dr. Monica Musenero before the budget committee of Parliament.

The MPs questioned its relevancy few days after their chairperson tabled different votes from office of the presidency.

There was a standoff in the committee of budget scrutinizing ministerial budget estimates from committee chairpersons when Kira municipality legislator Ibrahim Semujju Nganda opened the pandora box tasking the committee chairperson to explain in which capacity was the minister for science technology and innovation in office of the president was appearing.

"I need to be helped on why does this particular minister coming to make a presentation. Is she now a committee chairperson .I need to be helped because I have been away and may be it has changed that some ministers will be coming by themselves to make their presentation," Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda questioned.

Before the dust could settle, members of parliament from the committee of presidential affairs led by Naome Kabasharira wondered what exactly the minister was going to present yet a report had already been presented before the same committee.

"You have called the minister here but in our communication, the sectoral committee which presides over this ministry has been invited to you and we presented to you our presentation after interacting with her. What is she going to present," Kabasharira wondered.

The chairperson of the budget committee Patrick Isiagi maintained that the invitation of Musereno to appear before the committee was scheduled on the program last week to shed more light on issues related with science and technology.

"We gave a roadmap and we all agreed with this program. We are not discussing a budget but we discussing science and that's what we want to hear from her. We gave this road map and we all agreed to meet the minister because science is a unique factor."

However, Musenero  dismissed allegations that there are misunderstandings between her ministry and the committee of presidential affairs.

" I don't have any misunderstandings with committee members because the chairperson of the budget committee wrote to me inviting me to belief members and I wrote to them too inviting them to come and attend this meeting."
