Two Arrested Over Death of Broker in Mbarara Bus Park Fight

Police in Mbarara City are holding two men in connection with the death of a 20-year-old broker who succumbed to injuries following a fight at Mbarara Bus Park.

The deceased, identified as Lameck Asasira, a broker attached to KR Coaches, was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning at around 3am at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, where he had been admitted after sustaining severe head injuries.

According to the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, SP Samson Kasasira, the suspects have been identified as Vincent Akol aged 34, a passenger guide with Tausi Bus Company, and Isma Wabwire, aged 25, a broker with the same company.

“It is alleged that on the 8th of October 2025, at around 10am, misunderstanding arose between workers of KR Coaches and Tausi Bus Company at the Mbarara Bus Park,” said SP Kasasira.

“During the altercation, one Akol of Tausi Bus Company started fighting with a broker identified as Shafik from KR Coaches. When the deceased, Asasira Lameck, rushed in to intervene, he was punched by Akol, Wabwire, and others, causing him to fall and lose consciousness.”

Kasasira added that police officers quickly responded to the scene, arresting the two suspects, while the victim was rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for treatment.

“Unfortunately, at around 3a on the 9th of October 2025, Asasira Lameck was pronounced dead at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital,” he said.

“His body has been taken to the mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.”

The regional police spokesperson confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing, as efforts continue to trace other suspects who may have participated in the assault.
