A city lawyer, who was on his way home from work on July, 20 at 8pm on a boda boda was badly assaulted by goons at Wandegeya on Bombo Road, around Norvik Hospital.
Moses Osiya, who is an advocate with EOA Consulting sustained a number of injuries and lost property to the goons that nearly took his life.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said that the suspects are on the run but are being tracked to be charged with robbery, assault and attempted murder.
Mr Owoyesigyire said the goons followed the lawyer on his way back home from Rest TV, grabbing his bag and starting to beat him before making away with his two phones, laptop and cash all valued at the region of Shs11m.
Mr Owoyesigyire revealed that the place of incident has always been a dark spot for criminals who hide around Club Obligato and urged people to take extra caution when using the route especially after 7pm.
Osiya was taken to Mulago referral Hospital for treatment after police intervened to restore calm.
Uganda Law Society condemned the attack on one of their own and reaffirmed its mandate to protect members of the legal profession as regards to their conditions of practice as well as protect them.
“The Uganda Law Society treats this occurrence as an assault on the legal profession and shall be taking steps to ensure redress is obtained against the perpetrators of this criminal conduct that has no place in a free and democratic society.”
Osiya, a former president of Kampala International University Law society is known for promoting the civil rights of all individuals, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
He is known to have worked tirelessly to save a student, Rugero Daniel through a car wash project which received applause from the Kansanga and Kabalagala community.
Osiya, a dedicated political analyst on legal matters on several local TV stations is known to have spoken for the sexual minority group whose companies faced closure and individuals arrested for their sexual orientation.
