The UPDF Engineering Brigade chief, Col Eng Godfrey Tukamwakiira, pledged to complete the Shs4.8 billion municipality headquarters and the Shs1.3 billion health centre by the end of the year.

SHEEMA | After years with a headquarter, Sheema Municipality is set to have its own administrative centre after the Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) Engineering Brigade took a contract for the construction.

The brigade has also been tasked with constructing the Kabwohe Health Center IV facility.

The UPDF Engineering Brigade chief, Col Eng Godfrey Tukamwakiira, pledged to complete the Shs4.8 billion municipality headquarters and the Shs1.3 billion health centre by the end of the year.

Col. Eng. Tukamwakiira affirmed the commitment of the brigade to deliver both projects, with the health center expected to be completed by September.

"We are dedicated to completing both projects to serve the community effectively," Tukamwakiira said.

Sheema Municipality legislator Dickson Kateshumbwa expressed confidence in the UPDF's ability to deliver value for money for both projects, emphasizing the importance of these facilities for the community.

"We trust the UPDF Engineering Brigade to deliver quality infrastructure for our municipality and health center," Kateshumbwa said.

Meanwhile, in Butaleja district, political leaders are advocating for the elevation of Busolwe Hospital to a regional referral facility.

Members of Parliament from the district argue that the recently renovated hospital serves a significant population of over 800,000 people and should be upgraded accordingly.

"We advocate for the elevation of Busolwe Hospital to a regional referral facility, considering its significance and the population it serves." noted Florence Nabanda, Butaleja Woman MP

Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng concluded her monitoring visits aimed at enhancing health service delivery in the Bukedi, Bugisu, and Sebei sub-regions.

Dr Aceng's efforts reflect the government's commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and access across the country.
