Born Again Christians in the Busoga subregion, under the National Fellowship of Pentecostal Born Again Churches, have urged the Ugandan government to purchase prime land in Jinja City valued at shs
3 billion. The land, known as the Railway Grounds, covers approximately three acres and is strategically located between Eng. Zikusooka Road and Tobacco Road, adjacent to the Jinja Christian Centre (JCC).

The appeal was made during the recent consecration ceremony of Richard Kyendakulya, the newly appointed Overseer of Pentecostal Churches in Jinja City. Dorothy Kisaka, Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), represented First Lady Janet Museveni as the Chief Guest at the event.
Bishop Edward Munene, a key leader within the Born Again Christian community, emphasized the importance of the Railway Grounds for their religious activities, stating that the site has historically hosted numerous religious crusades and events.
"We have heard that the Railway Grounds, where we have been holding our crusades, is on sale at a price of shs3 billion. We are appealing to the government to buy it for us," Bishop Munene said.
He further explained that the land would be dedicated to "God's ministering work" and serve as a venue for future religious gatherings.
Bishop Munene also cited previous government precedents of allocating land to various religious communities, noting that the Muslim community received land from the government, and that the Catholic Church and Church of Uganda were granted land during the colonial era.
"In the same spirit, the government should consider buying land for Pentecostal Churches," he added.
The Born Again Christian community has already begun the process of acquiring the land.
According to Bishop Munene, they are currently reviewing land titles and other documents to ensure the legitimacy of the acquisition, with the goal of securing the property for religious use and expanding their ministry.
Dorothy Kisaka, herself a Born Again Christian, responded positively to the request and assured the leaders that she would advocate for funding from the relevant authorities to facilitate the purchase.
"I will do my best to ensure that the finances are availed for buying the land," Kisaka promised.
The Born Again Christians in Busoga remain hopeful that the government will support their request, allowing them to continue their spiritual activities in Jinja City uninterrupted.
