Uganda's political climate remains charged as the 2026 elections approach. The ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM), led by President Museveni, maintains a stronghold on power, but opposition parties continue to strive for relevance.

Despite the challenges we face, we remain committed to providing a viable alternative to the current regime. Our message resonates with Ugandans who seek change and progress.

However, opposition parties encounter significant obstacles, including limited media coverage, restrictions on political gatherings, and allegations of government intimidation and harassment.

Opposition parties must navigate a complex political landscape to gain momentum.

Building alliances, mobilising grassroots support, and leveraging social media are crucial strategies in their arsenal.

Yet, challenges persist. The government's control over key institutions, including the electoral commission and security forces, raises concerns about the fairness and transparency of the electoral process.

What steps can opposition parties take to strengthen their position and ensure a level playing field in the upcoming elections?

Opposition Representative: It's imperative that we continue to mobilize support, engage with voters, and advocate for electoral reforms to safeguard democracy in Uganda.

Civil society plays a crucial role in monitoring and advocating for electoral integrity.

We must hold the government accountable and demand transparency throughout the electoral process.

As Uganda approaches the 2026 elections, the fate of opposition parties hangs in the balance.

While challenges loom large, the resilience and determination of opposition leaders and supporters offer hope for a more inclusive and democratic future.
