The Head of the surgical Department of Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Dr Joan Babalanda applauded the Turkish Doctors for this Surgical camp which she said complimented efforts by the Hospital to ensure all patients who require surgery are operated on.

The Medical Camp championed by Jinja Woman Member of Parliament Manjeri Kyebakuttika attracted more than 1,500 patients with different illnesses who turned up for a weeklong medical camp organised by a team of medical Specialists from Turkey under their umbrella All Friends of Africa at Jinja regional referral hospital.

More than 200 patients got free surgical operations from Turkish surgeons collaborating with their counterparts at Jinja Hospital.

Dr Afizu Kibuuka, a consultant at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital revealed that the surgical camp not only benefitted locals but also the Medics at the hospital got more skills.

The head of the Surgical Department at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Dr Joan Babalanda applauded the Turkish surgeons for complimenting the efforts by Jinja Hospital to ensure all patients who need surgery are worked on.

"This camp has helped to mobilise all patients whom we have registered and the surgeries shall continue until the end of this year since out of 1500 who turned up only 200 were operated on," DrĀ  Babalanda said

She however revealed that the hospital is challenged by inadequate medical equipment and staff especially specialists like urologists, plastic surgeons, and ENT specialists among others.

We have one Anesthesia machine in our Theatre. Yet, some days we register many people who need to be worked on especially expectant mothers, and other illnesses like hernia, breast cancer and gut perforation which are the leading cases registered at the hospital.

Some of the patients who benefitted from this medical camp and Jinja City Woman Member of Parliament Manjeri Kyebakuttika have applauded the Turkish doctors for this gesture.
