Munyagwa to Bobi Wine:  Museveni a dictator? When you are always relaxing on your beach freely!

Opposition National Unity platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has accused President Museveni of talking tough against homosexuals with the intention to distract the country from his poor leadership.

Bobi Wine was responding to a question regarding his involvement with homosexuals in western countries during an interview on BBS TV yesterday.

The singer cum politician said the issue of homosexuality has been around for quite some time, but Museveni continues to use it as a means of diversion whenever a torch is lit in his bad leadership.

“The sad part is that Museveni uses this topic as a political tool whenever he has no answers regarding his bad leadership. Whenever he has no answers on the very many bad things happening and the scandals, he plays the homosexuality card to divert the populace because he is aware where Ugandans stand regarding homosexuality,” Bobi said.

He said that with the current scandals that have swamped Museveni’s leadership, it is only the best escape route if he starts talking about homosexuality and accuses his competitors of supporting gays.

“He (Museveni) is trying to trick me to find out what reply will come from me. He uses religious leaders and people close to me and those I work with to drive his narrative,” Bobi Wine added.

Bobi Wine said that his outspokenness against homosexuality has previously caused him to be banned in the United Kingdom, but did not elaborate exactly where he stands as far as the topic is concerned.

He said that his answers to the topic should be viewed from his way of life which has ensured he weds a woman and has children, as well as his being an inspiration to most of his associates whom he has encouraged to get married and procreate.

“ I do not even need to speak about what I am, Barbie (Itungo Kyagulanyi) exists, I have been advising my fellow colleagues to get married that we have even been called names,” Bobi said.

He said that Museveni has been playing on the minds of Ugandans for so long, speaking tough about homosexuals and then turning around to use his proxies to withdraw any bad laws against homosexuality. He cited Andrew Mwenda and Fox Odoi who played a role previously in repealing the law against gays.

“Museveni’s NRM has a majority in parliament they can pass any law, but they will not pass the anti-homosexuality law, even if they do pass it, Museveni will use proxies to withdraw it later,” Bobi said.

In 2014, Bobi Wine wrote an opinion in the Daily Monitor saying he does not agree with homosexuals.

“Homosexuality may be a phenomenon that has lived in the nooks of society and as humanity requires, I sympathise with the victim, in the confines of the word victim and most definitely sympathy should not be misinterpreted as an endorsement,” he said.
