Male victim identified as fresh details emerge on couple burnt in Kawempe house fire

Featured

Fresh details have emerged pinning the suspect, Suzan Kaitesi, 24 over the alleged murder of a couple that she had invited at her place for a birthday party.

In an incident that happened on January 12 at Jinja Karoli Kawempe Zone ‘A’ Ward in Nabweru Kawempe Division Kampala District, two people including one Patricia Arinda and another unidentified male victim were burnt to ashes during a suspicious fire that gutted Kaitesi’s apartment bedroom.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said  on Monday that investigations have indicated that the male victim is  identified as Ivan Lulonge also known as Jjaja Bin, a famous comedian on Tiktok and Yotube.

“We were able to identify the father of Ivan Lukonge known as Steven Kamoga from whom we have taken DNA samples and are still waiting for results before handing over the body,”Owoyesigyire said.

The Kampala deputy police spokesperson said the male victim’s identity was further confirmed by a boda boda rider whom he said had ridden him to the house on the fateful day.

“The boda boda rider says on that day he met his death he allegedly rode him from Bweyogerere to the area in Kawempe.”

Owoyesigyire said whereas the suspect, Kaitesi had informed detectives that the deceased had on the fateful day arrived at her house at the same time but investigations indicate they came at different times.

Police say detectives have been able to speak to boda boda riders who chauffeured the deceased persons from Najjeera and Bweyogerere where they resided respectively and it has been indicated that each travelled at different times.

“We have realized some of her statements are not coordinated. Whereas Arinda arrived at the house in Kawempe at 12pm, the male victim had arrived earlier at 3am,”Owoyesigyire said.

The fire broke out at around 5:30pm.

The development means the male victim slept at the suspect’s house before Arinda could join them later in the day.

Initial investigations indicated that whereas Keitesi had a gas cooker, it was in the store and was intact after the fire by the time police responded and this rules out any explosion by the cylinder but also the responders who included police and neighbours found that the bedroom for the double unit where the two were burnt from was locked and the keys missing.

The fire burnt only the bedroom where the two were while the sitting room that was only affected by smoke.

Owoyesigyire said on Monday that investigations have also further indicated that there a suspected burnt jerican with items suspected to have fueled the fire whereas the switches in the bedroom were off.

Deceased Arinda's mother, Constance Ntegyereize last week  told Daily Monitor that she suspected Susan Kaitesi to have masterminded the murder of her daughter .

The police publicist however said investigations are still ongoing.
