Muhoozi vows to teach Otafiire’s group a lesson

Featured

The First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has declared war on Internal Affairs Minister Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire for ‘sabotaging’ young people’s voice in Uganda’s politics.

Recently, Otafiire attacked Muhoozi for suggesting it was time the young generation assumed leadership of this country from the incumbent National Resistance Movement (NRM) to which Museveni is chairman.

Muhoozi had described NRM as a ‘reactionary’ party, adding that it could not represent the young generation anymore.

However, addressing the media last week, Otafiire said it was wrong for the First Son to downplay the party that has been in power since 1986, adding that they would still front Museveni as their preferred candidate for 2026 presidential elections.

Otafiire’s comments seem not to have augured  well with Muhoozi, who through a Tuesday tweet, said he will not sit and watch while the minister sabotages the young generation from running affairs of the country.

He vowed to teach the minister and ‘his group’ a lesson that their time is over.

“Calls us 'mad' people because we dare to ask the questions that even children understand. Let us teach Otafiire and his group that their time is absolutely over,” Muhoozi said in a later deleted tweet.

Muhoozi’s latest rant comes against the backdrop of war of words between his group dubbed ‘Muhoozi army’ and the NRM big wigs over who should appear on the ballot paper come 2026.

Whereas Muhoozi has not formally declared his presidential bid, he has through numerous social media posts hinted on succeeding his father.

However, he faces resistance from the NRM old guard which still has faith in the party and leader Museveni.
