BrighterMonday partners with insurance college to equip jobseekers with industry training

BrighterMonday Uganda, an  online jobs and career platform in Uganda has  announced  signed a Memorandum of Understanding with  the Insurance Training College (ITC) to train and also  avail the trained learners with job opportunities available in the insurance industry.

This service will be provided to jobseekers in Uganda with the objective to enhance professionalism in the insurance sector and equip them with the critical skills, confidence and empower them to succeed in the industry.

According to the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), only 23% of the persons in employment (16 - 64 years) have completed secondary & post-secondary education. This affects the job market because of the lack of adequate skills to participate meaningfully in the market.

The insurance industry has been experiencing tremendous growth over the years and therefore it requires more skilled personnel.

“We want to bridge the gap between the job market and skilling opportunities available to jobseekers. By working with the Insurance Training College, we will be able to guarantee that the candidates we have in our database and our clients select are certifiably good at their work," said Pius Ngoga, the Business Development Manager at Brighter Monday Uganda.

He noted that Brighter Monday Uganda’s platform processed almost 11,000 job applications for roles in insurance, banking and finance from almost 200 jobs published throughout 2021.

"This made it one of the most competitive sectors therefore, this partnership is about giving our jobseekers an edge with better skills.”

Paul Katabalwa, the head of membership and compliance at ITC welcomed the MOU with BrighterMonday.

“We look forward to working with our specialist partners who bring the technical expertise & technology that makes job matching with skills faster and more efficient. As a member organization, this partnership also creates more value to the members and learners who will be at the forefront of the industry, armed with the best skills, practical knowledge and access to the numerous opportunities through Brighter Monday Uganda," Katabalwa said.

According to officials, the partnership will also enhance BrighterMonday's offerings to the members by giving a wider catchment area for the job market.
