BUL FC clinch first ever Uganda Cup after impressive win over Vipers SC

FT: Vipers SC 1:3 BUL FC

The Jinja based cooking oil makers BUL FC put up a stellar performance against the Venoms (Vipers SC) in the Uganda cup final to be crowned Champions for the first time at the King George stadium in Masindi.

Forward Karim Ndugwa scored twice in the 27th and 53rd minute respectively, while midfielder Simon Peter Oketch scored a beautiful counter attack in the 42nd minute.

Vipers captain Halid Lwaliwa scored a consolation in the 71st minute but was not enough to inspire a comeback for the Venoms side who seemed composed in the second part of the game.

This was a repeat of last year’s final where Vipers humiliated BUL FC with an 8:0 defeat played at the FUFA technical center in Njeru in a match that saw forward Musa Esenu replace Sanon Mulabi between the sticks as a makeshift goalkeeper.

Vipers were aiming to make history of winning two cups in the same campaign (Uganda cup and the Uganda premier league) but BUL brought down their hopes.

BUL’s triumph means they’ll represent Uganda at the continental showpiece, the CAF Confederations cup.

BUL walked away with 50 million prize money while Vipers SC received 25 million.

All awards were scooped by BUL players including;

Best goalkeeper – Emmanuel Karyoowa

Best Defender – Ochora Walter

Top Scorer – Karim Ndugwa
