Stanbic Bank contributes Shs 150m towards Makerere At 100 celebrations

Stanbic Bank has contributed Shs 150 million to Makerere University as it commemorates 100years of service to humanity.

The cash donation is expected to boost activities lined up by the university ahead of the official Makerere At 100 October celebrations.

The activities include public lectures, conferences, and MAK run among others.

Speaking at the handover event, Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe, the Vice-Chancellor of Makerere University applauded Stanbic Bank for its consistent partnership with the university which has helped it to move to new heights.

He pointed out the recently launched laptop loan scheme designed for Makerere students and staff which helps them acquire laptops on hire purchase basis.

Anne Juuko, the chief executive at Stanbic Bank Uganda said the bank is exceptionally proud of their partnership with Makerere.

"Makerere occupies a special place in our hearts because it taught us so many things still relevant to date. As a proud alumnus, I will forever be a great ambassador of the institution," she said.

"We have contributed Shs 150m towards #MakerereAt100 celebrations and that is not all. We will continue supporting the University in kind. I must reiterate our continued collaboration with Makerere University. As Stanbic Bank, we are committed to growing this partnership."
