Hoima: Science teachers given ultimatum to return to class

By Kevin Kasoma

It has so far been ten days and  since science teachers all over the country decided to go onto strike over the failure by government to increase their salaries as promised by President Museveni last year.

However  in Hoima, the Resident City Commissioner for Hoima East Division Donato Kasigazi has given the teachers teachers on strike an ultimatum of two days to immediately report for duty or face the sack.

Speaking to The Nile Post, Kasigazi condemned the teacher's actions and requested them to either return to the classroom or stay home for good.

He assured the teachers that the government shall pay them because that was a decision that was taken.

Aminah Marita an A level student in Hoima offering Physics Economics Math(PEM) feared that the strike will heavily impact on their performance in their final exams scheduled for  November this year.

The headteacher Kitara Secondary School, Patrick Zahura said at least science teachers at his school had resumed teaching last week but in other schools in the district, many were continuing with the strike.
