The NRM candidate in the Kayunga district LC5 race, Andrew Muwonge has asked youths in the district not to consider friendship while voting in the forthcoming by-election set for December, 16.
“Let us put politics and party colours aside and we vote issues. Don’t mind about voting for a person from your party. Let us vote for someone who will front the issues affecting the people of Kayunga rather than one who will oppose every project initiated by the central government,” Muwonge said.
“We are not here for jokes. Unlike the post of MP, this position (LC5 chairman) means the holder must be one who will extend services to people. One who is truthful but above all knows the problems affecting people. I am that person.”
The NRM flag bearer was on Monday traversing several villages in Busaana subcounty in Ntenjeru North Constituency.
Muwonge insisted that unlike many of his opponents, he is a man of his words, adding that having grown up in Kayunga and served as the district youth councilor for over 10 years.
“This is a rare opportunity for the people of Kayunga to vote for one of their own. I am not here for politics but to serve you. I am here to unite the people of Kayunga because the fights in the district are our greatest disadvantage for many years because they have stagnated development.”
Speaking to youths, the NRM director for communication, Emmanuel Dombo reiterated the need to vote for leaders who will solve issues affecting them.
“My brother Bobi Wine is not in this race. He is not a candidate. Vote for Muwonge to ensure improved service delivery in the district,”Dombo said.
Kayunga will on December, 16 vote for its next LC5 chairman to replace Ffeffekka Sserubogo who died in June.
Six people including NRM’s Andrew Muwonge, Harriet Nakweede from the National Unity Platform (NUP), Boniface Musisi Bandikubi (Independent), Anthony Waddimba (DP), Jamir Kamoga (Independent) and Majid Nyanzi (Independent) are vying for the position.
However, the biggest contest is between the NRM and NUP candidates in the race.
