SC Villa host Onduparaka at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru looking to arrest their startling and worrying start to the season.

After starting the season well with a victory over Police, Petros Koukouras’ side have managed to collect only one point from three games and are currently 13th in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table.

The Jogoo will look to bounce back with a win against Onduparaka on Friday. The game will be live on Sanyuka TV (kick-off 3:00 PM; EAT).

Villa looked like a top side during their convincing draw against Express FC in the Kampala derby last week, but they followed that up with an absolute downer at home against BUL Bidco FC.

The nature of both performances showed apparent signs of how hard it is to assess the stress of such sides. The bottom line though is that the current Jogoo team are not to be trusted yet but more focus should be on the development of the squad.

They are packed with loads of inexperience and promise and players like Amir Kakomo and Ferd Agandu who look likely to throw in a motivated performance and follow that up with a stinker in the next game.

The forward three of Travis Mutyaba, Oscar Mawa and Umar Lutalo look every inch impressive to look at. But with all the excitement, they are still miles off the physical edge required in the top flight.

There were concerns on the competitiveness of the Onduparaka squad at the start of the season, two wins and two draws in six games have settled lingering doubts.

There is still work to do to achieve the targets this season, but the Caterpillars are on a seemingly upward trajectory. They are eighth on the table and riding confidently after wins over Police and Bright Stars.

The previous three meetings between the two teams have seen 1-0 score lines with SC Villa winning two, while Onduparaka has won the latest league meeting in May.

Villa however have been dominant in the fixture winning six out of the 10 league meetings including knocking them out of the Uganda Cup last season.

Mawa’s red card against BUL adds him to the list of absentees that includes Allan Nyanzi, Fahad Baale and Isma Mugulusi. Nicholas Kabonge could be available for selection after missing out the previous games due to illness.

The other games in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League will see league leaders KCCA FC make a trip to Barifa Stadium where they face Arua Hill SC.

Briht Stars are at home to Tooro United. Bright Stars are among only two sides who are still winless in the league while Tooro are on the back of a 6-1 thumping at URA FC.

Bottom side Police FC are at home to Mbarara City at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, while UPDF host Busoga United in Bombo.
