Kadaga hands over leadership of Busoga Caucus

The first deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs Rebecca Kadaga has handed over office of the chairperson of Busoga Parliamentary Caucus to Luuka South legislator Steven Kisa.

Kadaga advised the new leadership to work for the development of Busoga sub-region.

Kadaga also used this platform to inform legislators from Busoga about the progress of establishing Busoga University as a public Institution.

On Tuesday during the plenary session, the motion to establish Mountain of the Moon University in Fort portal as a public university met serious resistance from legislators hailing from Busoga who queried why Busoga University had been ignored by government.

Kadaga said the issue of granting Busoga University theĀ  status of a public university only awaits confirmation from Church of Uganda, the institution that established it.

Handing over the office, Kadaga also disclosed to the legislators that the construction of the Marine University at Namasagali in Kamuli district has kicked off.

The former speaker advised the new leadership to focus on issues that will uplift the standard of living of people in the sub region.

The new leadership said their focus will be on achieving unity amongst the leaders in the area in addition to fostering development.
