Jinja: Court confirms Kagoma's Moses Walyomu as duly elected MP

The High Court in Jinja has dismissed with costs the election petition challenging the election of Moses Walyomu Muwanika as Member of Parliament for Kagoma county.

Walyomu had been dragged to court by Fredrick Munyirwa on a number of grounds including being illegally nominated. Munyirwa also claimed that Walyomu did not have the requisite academic qualifications of A level or its equivalent and accused him of bribing voters and changing his name among others.

While delivering his judgement, the trial judge, Justice Joseph Murangira ruled that the evidence adduced by the petitioner against MP Moses Walyomu did not convince court.

He dismissed the case with costs.

Munyirwa, through his lawyers Isaac Wanume and Ritah Athiang  has vowed to take the matter to the court of Appeal.
