Muslims urge government to expedite implementation of Islamic banking

Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has decried the prevalence of Covid-19 as the worst hindrance that stopped Muslims globally from performing the holy pilgrimage to Makkah in this modern time.

He made the remarks while delivering his congratulatory message to Muslims and the entire Nation during the scientific Eid prayers at the national mosque in Old Kampala,

This was the second year that Muslim faithful in the world are commemorating Idd in their respective homes due to the Covid-19 pandemic that has since killed many people around the globe.

Mubaje made a special call to the government of the royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to begin planning ahead based on health precautions to enable Muslims to fulfil their religious obligations of performing hajj.

Using the same occasion the Mufti expressed special tribute to President Museveni, the cabinet and medical fraternity for the unwavering and spirited fight against the virus.

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), secretary general, Ramadhan Mugalu disclosed that UMSC is working closely with the government in the fight against the pandemic, saying they had carried out Covid-19 testing and vaccinated all staff.

He reminded the government technocrats to expedite the implementation of Islamic banking that was approved by the relevant government authorities including president Museveni.

He decried the delay in the implantation of the banking system in the country adding that Muslim community has the necessary experts to sit on the council to govern Islamic banking.
