Darius Nandida, the Resident District Commissioner(RDC) Kabale, has asked all radio stations in the district to stop announcing the dates and the time for burial ceremonies for the easy implementation of the presidential directives on Covid-19.
Museveni said not more than 20 people are supposed to attend a burial.
Speaking to The Nile Post on phone, Nandida said that the influence of announcing the dates and the time of burial is to invite people to come for the ceremony, something which is very dangerous during this period because it may lead to violation of Covid-19 measures .
“You know that only 20 people should be allowed to attend the burial so when you announce the dates of the burial, controlling the number of the people becomes very difficult. When a person who died is of status, when you announce the date of burial, you will be doing a disservice to other people who are implementing standard operating procedures,”Nandida explained to The Nile Post in a brief interview.
“We are saying that you can inform people but you don’t tell them the date of burial and the time and that will help us to reduce the number of who attend the burial. It is in good faith. I am not ordering the radios, we are asking them as our partners,” he said.
