Milly Babalanda to miss today’s swearing-in of ministers after contact with Covid patient

The new Minister for Presidency, Milly Babalanda will not take oath today as scheduled for other fellow ministers.

According to Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Babalanda has been put under quarantine after coming into contact with a Covid-19 patient.

“This is to inform the general public that the Minister in charge of the Presidency, Hon Babirye Milly Babalanda is under quarantine having been in contact with a Covid-19 patient,” a statement by Kirunda says in part.

“Accordingly, she will be in isolation for some period as advised by the doctors.”

The Deputy Press Secretary in the Office of the President says that Minister Babalanda will subsequently take oath at a later date after being cleared by doctors but noted that her condition is not worrying.

“She wishes her colleagues a colourful swearing-in event and promises to join them after quarantine. She also invites all Ugandans to join the president in the efforts to defeat Covid-19 which is a real threat to the country,” Kirunda said.

The newly appointed Ministers will later today take oath at a scientific function set to be held at the Kololo independence grounds.

President Yoweri Museveni is expected to grace the function.
