Ssebugwawo: "I love FDC but God ordered me to serve Museveni"

Joyce Nabbosa Ssebugwawo, the Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has said that she was sent by God to serve in Museveni’s government.

“I thank the president for giving me this opportunity at this age to be able to continue serving my country and I thank him very much. I am ready to work and I have come to serve my country with the guidance of God because this was a call from God," she said shortly after being approved by Parliament.

Ssebugwawo was among the state ministers (designate) who appeared before Parliament for vetting.

Following her approval, Ssebugwawo insisted that she is still a member of FDC.

"FDC members are still my people and I know they also love me because of the contribution I have made for the party. One or two people might say that they have dismissed me but that is dismissing the body but the heart will remain there," she said.

She said that focus should now be put on serving the people of Uganda adding that she will do her best to come up with new innovations in the Ministry of ICT.

“I am going to work for the people of Uganda without any discrimination. I have never been discriminatory and I love all the people of Uganda because all of them want peace. They want development and economic prosperity so for that matter, I have come to serve the people of Uganda with new ideas. I am going to be so innovative. I want to bring new things on board, “she said.

In FDC, Ssebugwawo served as Vice President in charge of Buganda and has been a close confidante of Dr Kizza Besigye, the founding president of the Najjanankumbi based party.

Ssebugwawo replaced Peter Ogwang who has been appointed Minister of State, Office of the President (Economic Monitoring) and she will be working under Chris Baryomunsi.

In January this year,Ssebugwawo lost Rubaga Division mayor seat to Zacchy Mberaze Mawula, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP).
