I was undressed of my dignity- Eddie Mutwe

Edward Ssebuwufu alias Eddie Mutwe, the renowned bodyguard of National Unity Platform (NUP) Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) has said that his experience while under arrest was one that reminds him of how his dignity was violated.

Eddie Mutwe is among the 18 NUP supporters that were granted bail by the General Court Martial following their arrest in December 2020.

While speaking of his experience under detention, Mutwe said that despite the fact that it was not all bad, he felt his dignity was at stake on one occasion shortly after the arrest.

“Everyone was cuffed and we were placed in the cells at Kalangala Police. We were then pepper-sprayed,” he said.

“They told me to remove my shirt, mask, trousers, socks, then they insisted I should remove the boxers as well. While at it, all the officers stood aside and watched my nakedness, and they kept commanding that I spread my legs, bend over. That was a violation of my dignity as a man,” he added.

Eddie Mutwe, just like his colleague Ali Bukenya alias Nubian Li states that he missed his family most, adding that in his absence, his wife gave birth to a baby boy.

“He was born on 27th Jan, that is the happiness you have all seen upon my return,” he said.
