The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party caucus is today expected to sit and elect members to various Parliament committee members.
“Reference is made to the above and to notify all the NRM parliamentary caucus members that the rescheduled consultative meeting will take place on June 7 at Kololo Independence Grounds starting at 2pm prompt. Please attend in person,” a June, 5 notice by Justin Kasule Lumumba, the NRM Secretary General, also copied to the party national chairman and the speaker of parliament among others reads in part.
“The agenda remains the same (Committees of 11th Parliament). Public transport has been arranged for the Honorable members to board by 1pm prompt.”
The meeting to be held at the Kololo Independence grounds starting at 2pm is expected to be chaired by President Yoweri Museveni who is also the NRM party national chairman.
Whereas opposition political parties are mandated to appoint members to head accountability committees in parliament, the ruling party is mandated to appoint members to chair committees mandated to implement government programs.
