The Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura said that the struggle to make Kampala a city for all will remain at the centre of her stay at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
Nyanjura made the remarks shortly after swearing in as Women Councillor representing Makerere University at the Kampala Capital City Authority for the next five years.
She explained that getting to this point did not come easy adding that it was a bruising march through a bloody campaign.
“It got even worse on election day as the voting turned into a military operation with bullets and teargas being fired, beating up voters and arresting my agents. With the support of the gallant Makerereans and largely the ordinary people, to whom I will forever be grateful, we managed to sail through all these injustices,”she said.
She said that the struggle to champion the rights of the downtrodden will be accelerated. .
“The years ahead of us at KCCA will certainly not be very different from the ones before, at least for me,”she said.
