NRM praises Besigye for championing the fight against Covid-19

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has applauded former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president, Dr. Kizza Besigye for his homemade remedy that is helping to fight and contain the spread of covid-19.

While addressing the media at the weekend,NRM Secretary General Justin Kasule Lumumba, said Besigye has tried on various platforms to teach Ugandans to prepare remedies from easily accessible herbs to supplement government efforts in ensuring that Ugandans are safe.

"Right from the the beginning he (Besigye) is one member from the opposition who has encouraged and advised Ugandans as a professional on the issues of Covid-19,"she said.

"I want to applaud him as a politician,"she noted.

Lumumba also thanked all those who have been able to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

"I want to request Ugandans that as we go for the polls, let us be mindful of the health of the people we are going to meet. Let us observe the SOPs as we move to people’s homes, as we train our agents and also demand as candidates and voters that SOPs are observed at the polling stations," Lumumba emphasized.

She called on Ugandans to ensure peace and desist from violence that could result into loss of lives.

"I am here to call for peace and calmness during general elections. Everybody wants peace and should exercise his or her own right in a peaceful environment," she said.

She also called on the NRM supporters and well wishers to be firm and confident ahead of the elections on January 14 2021.
