Government gives two masks for each candidate per school

Education

The government of Uganda through the Ministry of Health has procured masks for all the final year students in every school around the country.

Today, schools opened for finalists following months of closure to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, there has been an issue regarding who should provide students masks, with the government coming out to state it would be wrong to ask parents to shoulder the burden.

Therefore, Shs5b was set aside to procure masks for each student in school.

Speaking about the development, the Ministry of Health Spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona said that the masks are ready and will be distributed to students both in private and public schools.

“Masks for P7, S4, and S6 candidates are being picked from the Ministry of Health and distributed to the respective schools by the District Education Officers (DEOs)” Ainebyoona said.

“Each pupil/student both in public and private schools is expected to receive two pieces of the government of Uganda masks,” he added.
