Amuriat: "FDC can win 2021 election"

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer, Patrick Amuriat, has said the party has the capacity to win the 2021 general election even under the unfavourable environment created by the regime.

The major hiccup, he said, is Museveni will not hand over leadership on a silver platter.

Appearing on NBS Frontline Show on Thursday night, Amuriat said Plan A was accomplished successfully yesterday after he was endorsed as the party's flag bearer.

"We have won elections before .We have evidence that we (FDC) won the [2016] election by 52% . If I bring the evidence to NBS TV, they will shut it down,"he claimed.

Amuriat said President Museveni keeps deceiving Ugandans that he is a democrat yet he will do anything to hang onto power.

"He is playing mind games on Ugandans. I think this man has bewitched Ugandans. Anybody who eyes Museveni's seat is badly burned. If anybody doubts, ask Okot Ogong, who even sold his house because he was lured into a bad business deal,"he noted.

Amuriat said that the duties of the security forces should be well streamlined adding that they shouldn't work to keep the government in power.

Veteran journalist,Andrew Mwenda said he is not worried about succession in Uganda because revolutionary governments tend to have systems, and they do not lose power.

He noted that revolutionary leaders tend to die in power.

FDC chairperson Wasswa Birigwa yesterday stood down for Amuriat handing the FDC president the party presidential flag.
