Climate Change: Kadaga wants sterner action
The Speaker of Parliament,Rebecca Kadaga has called for more deliberate action by government to protect the environment and mitigate the effects of climate change.
Kadaga, made the remarks while addressing a conference on youth participation in combating climate change on Friday.

Kadaga said she has on many occasions been disappointed by different government departments that are more inclined towards making investors happy than saving the country’s wetlands and forests.
"We have been recently in a very long battle with the government over Murchison Falls," she said.
She said the ministry of Energy has on several occasions presented proposals to the cabinet defending the giveaway of the falls but it was rejected three times.
"Why should the minister continue presenting a matter which has been rejected?"she wondered.
Edwin Muhumuza, the Youth Go Green Uganda chief executive officer, appealed to young people to start studying climate change advising them to have degrees and masters in the area.
"Climate change is real and doesn't segregate. We must take it seriously," he said.
Muhumuza noted that young people shouldn't be left out in climate change.
"Climate change is a matter of life and death. It has already killed people, and we must be careful about how we are going to shape this bill,"he said.
