NBS Housing Baraza second edition starts tomorrow

All is set for this year's edition of the NBS Housing Baraza that is slated to start tomorrow, September 17 to September 18, 2020.

The two-day event  to be held at Next Media Park in Naguru will serve as a platform for members of public to face policy makers and other enablers like mortgage issuing financial institutions to get relevant information and technical support about affordable housing.

According to the Next Media Services Chief of Strategy Joe Kigozi, this year's edition will address shortage of housing due to increasing urbanisation.

Joe Kigozi said: "Currently, Uganda has a housing deficit of over 2 million units and we want to focus on the question of how do we bring down the cost of housing."

"These are the questions that keep in people's mind every day. I want construct a house. What are the new innovations in the industry? This is going to be one of the centre topics," Kigozi said.

According to the National Development Plan of 2015-2020, Uganda will need at least 2.6 million new housing units within the next 30 years if it is to keep tabs on its population growth.

This claim shows the numerous challenges and opportunities for all stakeholders in the housing value chain.

Next Media Services' Kigozi said that their job is to provide a platform to all players including government, regulators, Uganda Revenue Authority, Banks and every one in the value chain.

This year's edition will be under the theme "Rethinking the Design of Affordable Housing".

Housing Finance Bank, National Housing, Solution Telmec and Plascon paints are among the key partners that have partnered with NBS TV.
