Judiciary transfers 18 Registrars, Magistrates in latest changes

The new Judiciary Chief Registrar, Sarah Langa Siu, has deployed the newly appointed registrars and also assigned other judicial officers roles in different stations.

Five Registrars including Harriet Ssali, Godfrey Opifeni, Amos Kwizera, Samuel Emokor and Susan Kanyange who were on August 14 appointed by President Yoweri Museveni on promotion from the rank of deputy registrar have now been deployed to the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, High Court Kampala, Registry of Planning and the High Court Commercial Division, respectively.

Tom Chemutai, the former acting chief registrar, has been deployed to the Judicial Training Institute at Nakawa, Kampala.

The changes have also seen nine deputy and assistant registrars transferred to other stations across the country.

Among these is Flavia Nassuuna who has now been transferred to the inspectorate of Courts whereas Jamson Karemani has been sent to the Land Division of the High Court.

The changes have also seen six Chief Magistrates transferred from one station to other.

Dr.Alex Mushabe Karocho has been moved from the civil division to become a personal legal secretary to the Deputy Chief Justice, Richard Buteera whereas  Agnes Alum has been transferred from Entebbe to the civil divion.

Elias Kakooza has been moved from the Chief Magistrates court in Jinja to the land division whereas Catherine Agwero has been moved from Busia to Jinja Chief Magistrates Court.

““The changes have been made in the interest of improving service delivery in the courts,” said Langa, while announcing the changes on Wednesday.
