NRM primaries: MPs want party to convene meeting to deal with chaos

A section of NRM Legislators has asked the Central Executive Committee and the party's electoral commission to urgently hold a crisis meeting and find a lasting solution to the violence and chaos that characterised the primaries.

The legislators warned that unless the party intervenes, the primaries for district chairpersons, city mayors and municipality mayors scheduled for September 11 will be more chaotic than never.

Across the country, the primaries were rocked by chaotic or violent scenes with candidates or their supporters involved in bloody clashes.

The ugly scenes, the MPs said, are a shame to the ruling party hence they called upon the leadership to convene a crisis meeting and find a lasting solution to this violence and election malpractice before the next polls.

Some of the legislators also disclosed that in some areas, district administrative secretaries of the party manipulated results.
