Kigulu South MP arrested for defying Covid-19 guidelines with rally

Police has arrested National Resistance Movement (NRM) member of parliament for Kigulu South Andrew Kaluya for staging an illegal procession in the surbs of Nampilika in Iganga municipality.

According to our sources, Iganga DPC David Ndaula netted Andrew Kaluya in a procession after addressing his supporters in Nampilika.

Hon. Andrew Kaluya becomes the first NRM legislator to be arrested by police as opposition legislators namely Ibrahim Ssemujju, Luttamaguzi Ssemakula among others have been arrested on similar accounts.

Last week, police chief Martin Ocoth Ochola issued stern warnings to all regional police commanders and district police commanders to not only stop public rallies but arrest all politicians defying the presidential directives on covid19 guidelines.

Hon. Andrew Kaluya with over 10 supporters is expected to be arraigned before courts of law on Tuesday to know his fate.

Hon. Andrew Kaluya is standing against Milton Muwuma for member of parliament for Kigulu South in the 9th parliament and Kayemba Patrick LC 5 chairperson Iganga district.
