Lawyer Mabirizi writes to NIRA over Bobi Wine’s “real” age
Lawyer Male Mabirizi has petitioned the National Identification and Registration Authority(NIRA) seeking to be availed with documents to show Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine’s date of birth.
In an August 20, 2020 request to the NIRA Executive Director, Mabirizi says he is seeking for certified copies of signed application forms for Kyagulanyi’s national ID to help satisfy himself on the discrepancy on his date of birth .

“The Electoral Commission has since availed to me the documents but the academic transcript issued by Makerere University shows his date of birth as February,12, 1980 contrary to the initial 1982,”Mabirizi says.
“The purpose of this letter therefore is to request you for his signed application form where he filled his date of birth.”
The lawyer says that he is basing his application on Article 41 of the Constitution and Section 5 of the Access to Information Act, 2005 which gives him liberty to seek for the above documents.
“The above documents, if availed will go a long way in proving that the named person is dishonest in claiming that he was born in 1982 thus giving you false information or that your authority incorrectly recorded them,” Mabirizi says.
On Friday, Mabirizi said Kyagulanyi is not fit to stand for presidency for being dishonest.
“I was availed with all documents presented by Bobi Wine to EC in 2017 Kyadondo East by-election and I discovered dishonesty on his side. He was not born in 1982 as he claims because the Makerere University transcript shows that he was born on February 12, 1980,”Mabirizi told journalists.
The lawyer told journalists that he would institute a private prosecution against Kyagulanyi to ensure he doesn’t appear on the 2021 ballot paper noting that he will not allow the Director of Public Prosecution take over the case.
