The High Court in Kampala has stopped construction of the shs97 billion 8.06 km Kabuusu - Bunnamwaya- Lweza road by Kampala Capital City Authority.

Rashid Ssenyonjo Musisi, a resident of Bunamwaya earlier this year dragged KCCA to court for trespassing on his land during the construction of the road.

However, the court deputy registrar, Flavia Nabakooza has issued a temporary injunction stopping the construction works until the cases is disposed of.

“It is hereby ordered that a temporary injunction doth issue restraining the respondent(KCCA) her servants, agents, assignees, workmen, representatives and any person claiming under or from her from developing, carrying out any further road construction or further trespass on land comprised in Kyadondo block 267 plot 195, 196 and 197 at Lweza or any part thereof until the determination of the main suit,” the registrar ordered.

In May, Ssenyonjo dragged KCCA to court saying the construction works had trespassed on his land without permission.

The 8.06 km Kabuusu - Bunnamwaya- Lweza road is being constructed under the Kampala infrastructural Development Program (KIDP).

The project is funded by the World Bank and the construction is undertaken by China State Construction and Engineering Corporation Limited (CSCEC).

President Museveni in July last year flagged off the construction of the shs97 billion road that will connect Entebbe Expressway to the Northern Bypass.
