DPP's office gets new spokesperson

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Justice Mike J. Chibita has appointed Senior State Attorney, Jacquelyn Okui as the new Public Relations Officer of the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The position fell vacant after the appointment of the Jane Kajuga Okuo as a judge of the High Court by President Museveni and was sworn in last week.

On Sunday, the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions announced Okui’s appointment as the new spokesperson.

In the same year, she was posted to Kamuli as a Resident State Attorney but in 2001 she was transferred to Iganga in the same position.

“In 2013, she went to Utrecht University in the Netherlands in pursuit of a Master of Law in International Human Rights and Criminal Justice which she acquired in 2014,” says a statement from the DPP’s office.

Okui was later promoted to Senior State Attorney and served in the Appeals Division which she headed until 2016 when she was transferred to the Kampala regional office as the Deputy Regional Officer.

Earlier this year, she was moved to the International Crimes Department where she is still serving to date.

Okui is a member of the Contracts Committee in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and represents the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in various task forces including the task force assessing Uganda's readiness to accede to the Budapest Convention.

She will be deputized by Senior State Attorney, Irene Nakimbugwe.
