Gen. Katumba urges road users to be mindful while driving

The state minister for Works, Gen. Katumba Wamala, has urged motorists to be more mindful of others while driving on the road.

Wamala made the revelations while flagging off the ‘Tweddeko’ road safety caravan to Luweero on Thursday.

This was aimed at raising awareness about road usage and safety.

"Sometimes we rush for nothing because sometimes you find the vehicle over speeding and you go on the normal speed and after few minutes you find them slowing down because of other reasons. So let's be aware. We should not be rushing to the hospital, we should keep our lives in check.

He appealed to everybody to be very careful while driving during this festive season because life is very important.

"I want to thank all the television stations in terms of sending the messages to people. It is our responsibility to save lives,"he said.

Gilbert Assi ,the managing director Vivo Energy said:"As we are approaching the festive season, we want to make sure that everybody is aware that excitement of the festive season does not mean that we should put our lives in danger."

He said Ugandans should know that that their lives are more valuable than anything in this world.

Steven Kasiima,the director Traffic and Road Safety said:" We get many people who have just bought vehicles They go on the road and cause havoc. We are going to do our best to fight it such that we celebrate the end of year and Christmas with lower accidents."
