Airtel Uganda renews its partnership with Buganda Kingdom

Telecommunications company Airtel Uganda has renewed its partnership with Buganda kingdom through which it will continue sponsoring various kingdom activities.

This initiative is aimed at uplifting the social welfare of the Kabaka’s subjects.

The renewed partnership was signed on Thursday at Bulange Mengo and will run for three years.

The activities to be sponsored will include the Kabaka birthday run, the birthday dinner, mass celebrations, coronation celebrations, Masza Cup among others.

The Katikkiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga applauded Airtel Uganda for the credibility and trust they have bestowed in Buganda kingdom.

He noted that the kingdom is not merely a cultural institution but also the heart and the soul of those who ascribe to it.

He said it has also got spiritual dimensions.

“The kingdom is about the people. We only execute the duties of behalf of the multitudes when we participate in Kabaka birthday run, the Kabaka told us to concentrate on the needs of the people," he said.

Mayiga said that working with the kingdom is an indication that their strategic decision to focus of the people is the right move.

“It is always very pleasant for me to work with you as Airtel because you make things happen. As you may notice we have started a little early to prepare for the Kabaka Birthday run. It is intentional," he said.

The managing director of Airtel Uganda VG Somasekhar thanked that kingdom for being credible and for choosing Airtel Uganda.

“We started this relationship 6 years ago. Often as Ariel we are asked how this relationship works.I am happy to say that these questions have been answered by successful partnership between the Kingdom and Airtel," he said.
