President Museveni, who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces has replaced Maj.Gen. Paul Lokech as the UPDF Air Forces Chief of Staff, the Nile Post has learnt.
Lokech, who has served in the position for only five months after being appointed in the same position in July has been replaced by Brig. Charles Okidi who has been the Director of Operations at Air Force headquarters in Entebbe.
Brig Okidi was last week promoted from the rank of Colonel by the President.
The Nile Post recently exclusively reported that Maj.Gen.Lokech had been sent on a special assignment in Juba by the commander in chief of the armed forces to monitor on behalf of the guarantors of the South Sudan peace process, the assembling, screening, demobilization and integration of the armed forces of South Sudan.
The latest mini-reshuffle in the UPDF has also seen Brig. Francis Takirwa, who has been the chief of Education and Sports appointed the commander for the second infantry division and replaced by Brig Wilson Muhabuzi whereas Brig. Sam Omara who has been the Director in charge of Regional Affairs has been appointed as a defence attaché in Algeria.
The army spokesperson, Brig. Richard Karemire confirmed the latest changes in the UPDF.
