Museveni urged all foundations dealing with issues around the fight for the girl child to continue until the problem is uprooted from the entire country.
Abenakyo launched a campaign for the betterment of the girl child during last year’s contest for miss world in a famous speech that got her named Miss World Africa.
Quiin Abenakyo said the reason she started foundation was because she lost a friend who was giving birth at 14.
"Very many people ask me why I started Quiin Abenakyo foundation. I lost a friend at 14 years old to childbirth. The first and the strongest way to curb these issues is through education, through school campaigns and encouraging our little girls to stay in school,"she said.
The Nnabagereka of Buganda Kingdom Sylvia Nagginda said: "The focus of the Quiin Abenekyo Foundation is at the heart of my work and more importantly at the heart of development of country,"
She noted that the essential purpose and direction expressed by Quiin Abenakyo during her speech at the Miss World contest showed great desire and the commitment to fight teenage pregnancies.
