Museveni is incapable of wiping out corruption in Uganda - Muntu

The National Coordinator of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu has said President Museveni and the National Resistance Movement(NRm) government are incapable of wiping out corruption in Uganda.

He made the remarks during ANT regional training held in Kampala.

"Gen Museveni and NRM regime are incapable of wiping out corruption. They are trapped. I think what has happened is that they never realized that corruption will become a central issue in the politics of the country," he said.

Muntu said the president is trapped because he has lately realised that corruption is a thorn that could cause him to lose power.

"For a long time they have used corruption for the purpose of maintaining control and maintaining themselves in power, now suddenly they did not know that this was going to grow to a level where it becomes such a big issue that can cause them to lose power,"he said.

He cautioned the regime to stop confusing Ugandans by traversing in different parts of the country spreading the gospel of fighting corruption.

He noted that corruption is going to remain a central issue and a thorn in the backside of the National Resistance Movement.

"I hope the population is not going to be confused by those kind of reactions," he said.
