MPs on defence committee boycott meeting with police officials

A cross section of Members of Parliament from the opposition have boycotted the defence  committee of parliament chaired by Doreen Amule over the continued Police torture  of  journalists.

The delegation from the Uganda Police Force led by internal affairs minister Obiga Kania and deputy police deputy Inspector General of Police Sabiiti Muzeyi were appearing before the committee to answer audit queries from the financial year 2017/18 and also brief the commiittee about the resolutions from the recently concluded police council meeting.

Gonzaga Ssewungu MP Kalungu West said, " I can't be part of meeting where police over and again have kept on mistreating journalists and I welcome my fellow MPs who have boycotted this meeting and I pledge to stand with all journalists in solidarity, "
