Minister for Kampala Affairs, Beti Olive Namisango Kamya has said that musician turned legislator Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is better off staying as a member of parliament than running for the office of the president is the 2021 general elections.

Kamya said that Bobi Wine lacks political depth and capacity to run for the highest office in Uganda at the moment.

Kamya made these remarks while appearing on NBS Television's Morning Breeze.

"Bobi Wine would do better if he remains as a member of parliament. I don’t think he has the capacity as that of Amama Mbabazi," Kamya said.

Kamya added that all this 'noise and hullabaloo' is only in the capital and that the government is only worried about other issues like unemployment affecting people and not Bobi Wine and his colleagues in the opposition.

Asked what the recent focus on the ghetto means to her if it's not a counter measure and response to Bobi Wine's efforts, Kamya said that the NRM government has akwata been concerned about the ghetto as this is the centre of uplifting society from low to high income.

"There is a time when it is boda boda politics, then market and taxi politics. Ghetto politics is too high because this is where politics ought to be. When we’re thinking of raising the society from low to high income, the ghetto is what we’re talking about," she said in part.

Kamya said that there is no significant change that Bobi Wine has caused and that its just a change of guard from the same old actors in opposition politics running around in circles.

On the recent picks by President Museveni

Betty Kamya also commented on the recent Presidential appointments, of musicians Catherine Kusasira and Mark Bugembe alias Buchaman.

Kamya said there is no need to be worried or surprised since the president has always picked people whom he think will deliver his objectives of the time and that everyone should be calm and trust the appointing authority.

She said, "I have no problem with that because it’s a prerogative for him to pick people whom he thinks will deliver his objectives of the time. Everybody should be calm and trust the appointing authority and his ability to balance the different interests. They should do their work because the laws that creative different offices exist and the responsibilities are therein. I don’t foresee any collusion with Kusasira. We’ve been friends long before this appointment. We shall work well together."
